FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
-
When considering tree work, one of the most common questions we’re asked is: “How much will it cost to cut down or prune a tree?”
The truth is, the cost of tree surgery varies depending on several important factors — but having a guide helps you budget and avoid unexpected surprises. At Oakhurst Arboriculture, we believe in transparency, so here's what you need to know.
Service Estimated Cost (UK average)
Tree Removal (Small) £200 – £500
Tree Removal (Large) £600 – £1,200+
Crown Reduction / Pruning £250 – £600
Stump Grinding £80 – £350
Hedge Cutting £40 – £250 (varies by length)
Emergency Tree Work £300 – £1,500 (depends on urgency and risk) Site
Clearance From £500+ (project-based)
All prices are approximate and vary based on tree size, access, risk, and location.
-
1. Size and Species of the Tree
Large, mature trees (like oak or sycamore) require more labour and specialist equipment than small ornamental trees.
2. Access and Location
Tight spaces, overhead cables, or trees near buildings mean more planning, rigging, and time on site — all of which influence cost.
3. Type of Work
Crown thinning is quicker than full tree removal. Emergency callouts often incur higher fees due to urgency and potential danger.
4. Waste Disposal
Some quotes include waste removal (chipping, logs, green waste), while others may charge separately. We always clarify this in advance.
5. Stump Removal
Stump grinding is often not included in tree felling quotes, so ask if you want it done at the same time.Description text goes here
